Simply Home Detail Photo 1
Simply Home opened in August 2007 in a second floor loft location at 290 Carlaw Avenue. Just a few short months later, owner Brenda Sexsmith had the opportunity to move her store to its present location on Queen Street East in the Leslieville area, with its obvious advantage of much better street exposure. Simply Home’s collection of unique, one of a kind, decorative furniture and accessories will appeal to people who like to break the rules by blending styles from traditional to contemporary, eclectic to romantic, or country rustic to urban. The affordable treasures offered will enhance your style of living. The concept is the result of Brenda’s personal journey to living her dreams. She feels privileged to be a part of the eco or green living ‘movement’. “It wasn’t a particularly conscious decision” she reveals, “but a natural extension of my lifestyle. My passion has always been painted furniture. Whether it is early 19th century or 1950’s kitsch.” Simply Home’s collection of furniture is all 3R (reclaimed, repurposed, recycled). Brenda scouts auctions, antique and flea markets all over Ontario for her fabulous finds. Many items have the patina of age and layers of old paint. Some other pieces she unearths have interesting lines that Brenda will decorate or enhance with her artistic flair in a delicious palate of colours.
